The EmComm server project is now live on GitHub, bringing version control, live updates, and collaboration opportunities to the forefront. Moving forward, you’ll now have a front row pass to every edit, trial and error this project entails.
Why GitHub?
Moving the project to GitHub opens up new possibilities for both development and collaboration. First and foremost, GitHub provides powerful version control, something that was lacking in my previous workflow. With version control, I can track every change made to the code, easily revert to previous versions if needed, and have a clear record of the project’s progress. This brings a level of organization and flexibility that will ultimately make development smoother and more efficient.
But GitHub is not just a tool for me—it’s a platform that invites anyone to be a part of this journey. Through GitHub’s project management tools, like the Projects tab, I can break the work into manageable pieces, track progress, and collaborate more effectively. Whether you’re interested in using the system for your own setup or want to contribute to improving it, GitHub allows everyone to stay up to date with the latest changes, report issues, and even help implement new features.
This transition to GitHub is all about building a community around the project, and I’m excited to have others join in. The development here is open, and every contribution, no matter how big or small, is valued. Whether you’re following the updates or actively contributing, GitHub gives everyone the tools to be a part of this project’s growth.
What To Expect Going Forward
With the EmComm server project now on GitHub, you can follow the live updates, code commits, and real-time progress as features are actively developed. While GitHub serves as the hub for ongoing work, you’ll find the website remains the place for polished, finalized guides and documentation. For example, if you’re looking for a complete walkthrough of setting up PXE, the website has you covered with an easy-to-follow, step-by-step tutorial. However, for those interested in the behind-the-scenes development or testing of PXE and other features, GitHub is where the action happens.
As features are tested, tweaked, and finalized on GitHub, the website will host the final, well-documented guides. If you enjoy diving into the nitty-gritty of live updates or want to contribute to the ongoing work, GitHub is the place to be. Expect frequent updates and direct access to the latest code and experiments!
